HUBUNGAN INTENSITAS PENGGUNAAN SHORT-FORM VIDEO DENGAN KEMAMPUAN DELAY OF GRATIFICATION PADA INDIVIDU DEWASA AWAL

Abstract

Penelitian ini berangkat dari penggunaan media digital berbasis short-form video seperti TikTok, Instagram Reels, dan YouTube Shorts yang semakin meningkat di kalangan individu dewasa awal. Karakteristik konten yang singkat dan cepat diduga dapat memengaruhi kemampuan individu dalam menunda kepuasan atau delay of gratification. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk membuktikan hubungan antara intensitas penggunaan short-form video dengan kemampuan delay of gratification pada individu dewasa awal. Menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional, dengan subjek penelitian berjumlah 116 individu berusia 19–30 tahun yang diperoleh melalui teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan kuesioner yang disebarkan melalui google form. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan skala Intensitas Penggunaan Media Sosial TikTok milik Azhar (2023) yang dimodifikasi, dan adaptasi skala Delayed Gratification Inventory (DGI) milik Hoeger (2010). Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis uji korelasi Pearson Product Moment untuk menguji hubungan antarvariabel penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan negatif yang signifikan dengan tingkat sedang, antara intensitas penggunaan short-form video dengan delay of gratification (r=-0,487; p 0.000 < 0.05 ).
Hubungan negatif yang signifikan antara kedua variabel dapat diartikan bahwa semakin tinggi intensitas penggunaan short-form video, maka semakin rendah kemampuan individu dalam menunda kepuasan, dan sebaliknya. Penelitian selanjutnya disarankan untuk menelaah lebih lanjut mengenai besaran kontribusi dari kedua variabel dalam mempengaruhi satu sama lain, serta mempertimbangkan kontribusi dari variabel lainnya seperti kontrol diri, regulasi emosi, dan impulsivitas.
